Stash

Terms and Conditions

These terms apply when you use Stash, a read-later app that saves links and notes and summarizes them with AI. By creating an account you agree to them. Please read them together with the Privacy Policy.

Who provides Stash

Stash is provided by Jayden Winterbach, an individual (not a company) based in South Africa, reachable at stashlinked@gmail.com. Stash is a small personal project, not a company.

Your account

Price and donations

Stash is free to use. Each account gets a monthly allowance of free AI actions (summaries, Ask Stash, and note AI) on Stash's own model; the allowance can change, and AI features pause when it runs out until the next month or until you add your own API key. You can choose to donate to support Stash, but a donation doesn't buy anything: it doesn't unlock features and it doesn't create a paid service contract. See Donations & refunds. If you add your own AI provider API key, that provider may charge you for its use under its own terms. Stash isn't responsible for those charges.

Your content

What you save and write in Stash stays yours. You give the operator permission to store, copy, and process it (including sending it to AI providers) only as needed to run Stash for you. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups that expire shortly after.

Saved articles and copyright

When you save a link, Stash keeps a private copy of the page's text so you can read and search it later. Those articles belong to their authors and publishers. Your saved copies are for your own personal reading only: don't use Stash to republish or distribute other people's work. If you own the copyright in something and believe Stash is being used to infringe it, email stashlinked@gmail.com and it will be dealt with promptly.

Acceptable use

Don't use Stash to:

The operator may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it's safe to, you'll be told why and given a chance to respond or download your content.

AI summaries

Summaries, answers, and other AI output are generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong. Check anything important against the original source. AI output is not professional advice (legal, medical, financial, or otherwise).

Other websites and services

Stash links to and fetches pages from other websites, and uses third-party AI providers. The operator doesn't control them and isn't responsible for their content, availability, or practices.

Availability

Stash is provided as it is and as available. The operator aims to keep it running and your data safe, but can't promise it will always be available or free of errors, and may change features. If Stash is going to shut down, you'll get at least 30 days' notice by email so you can copy your content elsewhere. Keep your own copies of anything important.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Stash, which is a free service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for gross negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't legally be limited, or takes away any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other law that can't be excluded.

Ending your account

You can stop using Stash and delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting it permanently removes your content.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new date. For significant changes, you'll be told in the app or by email before they apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. If there's a problem, please email stashlinked@gmail.com first so it can be resolved informally. If that doesn't work, the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction, without affecting any right you have to bring proceedings where you live.
