Cookie Policy
Stash uses as little browser storage as it can, and only what the app needs to work. It has no analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, and no third-party cookies.
Cookies
stash_sidkeeps you signed in. It holds a random session token and is only sent to Stash (HTTP-only, secure, same-site). It lasts 90 days, or until you log out.stash_oauthis set only while you sign in with Google or GitHub. It holds a random check value, which proves the reply came back to the browser that started, and the page to open afterwards. It's only sent to Stash's sign-in pages (HTTP-only, secure), and it's deleted as soon as you're back, or after 10 minutes.
Other storage on your device
stash:tz-syncedin your browser's local storage remembers that Stash has already saved your time zone, so it doesn't ask again.- Offline copy. In the Stash apps, and in a browser where you turn on offline use in Settings, your links, saved articles, notes and tasks are kept in this device's storage (IndexedDB), along with any changes you make offline until they sync. The offline page itself is kept in the browser's cache. This is what lets Stash work with no connection. It's deleted when you log out, or when you turn offline use off.
stash:offlinein local storage remembers that you turned on offline use in this browser.stash:themein local storage remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme (it's not set when Stash matches your device).- Stash's service worker shows reminder notifications and, when a page can't load, the offline page. It's installed when you turn on reminders or offline use.
Why there is no cookie banner
All of the above is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for: signing in, remembering your settings, and working offline. None of it tracks you or is shared with anyone. Storage like this does not need separate consent, so Stash doesn't show a cookie banner. If Stash ever adds optional cookies, such as analytics, it will ask for your consent first and update this page.
Controlling cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block stash_sid, you won't be able to sign in.
